Automatic weapons in Fallout 4 are among the most convenient and sought after by players. With them, you can maintain continuous, powerful fire, dealing a large amount of damage in a short time.

Earlier, we already talked about the best pistols in Fallout 4. In this guide, you will learn about the top 7 best rifles that can be found in the open world, without relying on random legendary drops.

December's Child

December's Child is a combat rifle with the legendary property of reducing weight, increasing rate of fire, and reload speed. These are very useful perks that will give you a significant advantage during combat. Unlike other rifles, December's Child requires .56mm caliber ammunition.

An essential modification to install on the gun is the polished short barrel, which significantly reduces recoil. However, the polished long barrel for rifles is not suitable in principle.

Assault Rifle

Assault Rifle uses the same ammunition as December's Child, and in terms of damage, they are virtually identical. This weapon is standard - it's easy to find in the game or buy from a vendor. Nevertheless, it's an excellent and powerful gun with high damage. And if you take a silencer for it, you can effectively use it in stealth combat.

December's Child has slightly higher damage per shot - by about 8%. This means that to defeat the same opponent, the Assault Rifle will need on average 2-4 more rounds than December's Child. The difference is not critical. However, the Assault Rifle has significantly higher rate of fire - about 20% more compared to December's Child. Essentially, the damage per second with the rifle will be higher.

Overseer's Guardian

Overseer's Guardian is a combat rifle, the legendary property of which allows you to shoot two bullets per shot. The damage here is much higher than that of December's Child and the Assault Rifle. To kill a Yao guai with the first two shots, on average, 27-32 shots are needed, while Overseer's Guardian can handle it in 12-15 shots, which is almost twice less.

However, the gun has a significant downside - it has quite strong recoil. The damage per second will be high, but if you try to attack an enemy from a distance, there is a high chance that half of your shots won't hit the target.

The Problem Solver

"The Problem Solver" is a unique weapon with an interesting property: the longer you shoot at an enemy, the more damage each subsequent shot deals. Here, we have high accuracy and virtually no recoil, which ensures almost 100% accuracy. It's especially useful in shootouts against groups of enemies. By increasing damage, you can take out a whole crowd in a short time.

Next, we'll talk about a similar gun - Splattercannon , and how to find both rifles.

Splattercannon

The homemade rifle Splattercannon, like "The Problem Solver," can only be obtained with the Nuka-World add-on. Essentially, this gun is a full analog of "The Problem Solver." The situation here is the same as with December's Child and the Assault Rifle. The legendary property of the guns is identical.

To obtain both guns, you need to go to Nuka-World. To do this, head to the Nuka-World transit center.

Talk to Harvey and get the password for the terminal. In the terminal itself, choose the option "Activate monorail power" and head to Nuka-World.

Upon reaching the new location, you'll need to pass a raider initiation trial. You can find "The Problem Solver" in the Bradberton Amphitheater.

Here, find the leader of The Pack - Mason, and talk to him. To successfully complete the dialogue, choose only the right dialogue options. Finally, pass the persuasion check to receive the rifle.

You can obtain the Splattercannon in the Nuka-Town market location.

Find the merchant Aaron Corbett and buy the Splattercannon for 268 caps. By the way, the gun is sold immediately with a silencer.

Press and Pray

"Press and Pray" (Spray n' Pray) - a submachine gun with explosive bullets. To maximize damage from the gun, it is advisable to fully invest in the Demolition Expert perk. It will take about 15-17 bullets to kill the same Yao guai. Additional damage will come from the explosions.

The power of this gun lies in its bullets. With them, you can destroy hordes of enemies in a matter of seconds - they deal huge area damage, temporarily dazing enemies and blowing their bodies to pieces. It looks spectacular.

Other advantages of the gun include low recoil, large magazine capacity, high rate of fire, and spread.

Kiloton Radium Rifle

Kiloton Radium Rifle has the same legendary effect as "Press and Pray" with explosive bullets. It will take 12 shots to kill a Yao guai, which is quite low.

However, the damage will be even higher because the rifle deals not only physical but also radiation damage. As a result, enemies die much faster. Note that the effect will only work on creatures that have no radiation immunity. Most often, these are regular humans.

The Kiloton Radium Rifle is slightly better than "Press and Pray" due to its higher physical damage and additional radiation damage. However, for example, the magazine size of the Radium Rifle is smaller, the rate of fire is lower, and the recoil is more noticeable. In general, choose the option that feels more comfortable to you - you won't see a significant difference in damage. Both guns are worthy.

Remember, you can easily find and pick up all the mentioned guns in the open world. The guide on how to find them is only necessary for "The Problem Solver" and the Splattercannon. Test each option and choose the best one. Happy gaming!
